Identity theft is on the rise and recent studies show that only a third of London residents take proper precautions to protect themselves. Another 15 per cent have absolutely no idea what they should do about the problem.

CreditExpert.co.uk recently studied the identity theft phenomenon and discovered that 23 per cent of holiday makers from Britain have “never really thought” about taking precautions to protect their identity from fraud. In all, some 65 per cent of those who responded to the survey said that they do nothing to protect important documents while they are abroad.

Jim Hodgkins, the managing director of CreditExpert said: “We spend weeks looking forward to our holidays, but many of us leave the most important item off our checklist – our identity. With cases of identity fraud on the rise and empty homes a magnet for identity thieves, it’s important we take adequate precautions.”
