Amadeus helps get ready for IATA deadline
Posted on: April 29th, 2008 by Bobby V-JonesOver 268 airlines in 154 world markets use technological systems producer Amadeus to handle their e-ticketing, and with the International Air Transport Association deadline to do away with paper ticketing looming, Amadeus is helping the stragglers get up to speed to meet the IATA deadline. Many airlines have already done away with paper ticketing, but Westjet and Virgin Blue have employed Amadeus to get them ready for the changeover.
Amadeus’ solutions have allowed incredible ease of travel, with multi-stop, multi-carrier journeys being a seamless experience. Amadeus’ vice president of the airline business group Frederic Spagnou says, ‘Amadeus is making strides to ensure the industry is on track to meet the extended e-ticketing deadline. Over 91 percent of the tickets issued through our system are now electronic. As a preferred IATA e-ticketing supplier, we recognize the significant improvements to the customer experience that can be achieved through e-ticketing, as well as the considerable efficiency savings and revenue opportunities it opens up for airlines.’
