Airbus reevaluates delivery schedule
Posted on: April 30th, 2008 by Bobby V-JonesThe Airbus A380 superjumbo jet has been faced with its share of delays on its journey to coming into commercial operation, and now, despite Singapore Airlines having already put three A380s into service, the company has stated that its initial delivery schedule may again be compromised.
According to Airbus chief executive Thomas Enders, the company’s plans to deliver four A380s per month until the year 2010 may not be possible. He said a review at this point was in the original plans, but the review may lead to the announcement of yet more delays. One problem lies with the fact that each airline taking delivery of the jets requires different electrical systems and cabin design.
Production was slowed last week when true to French worker style, they went on strike, demanding equal payment for French and German workers. A protest was also staged outside on e of the company’s administration buildings.
