Air France Foundation Partners with UNESCO to Aid Destitute Children
Posted on: January 5th, 2010 by Charlotte FellowsThe Air France Foundation, a charity organization stemming from airline Air France, and UNESCO, organized a joint event dedicated to bringing aid and relief to destitute children across the globe. The November 26 meeting, which brought together associations, politicians, and experts on the issues, took place in Paris at the UNESCO headquarters.
The seminar was geared towards exploring opportunities for aid including new actions that could be taken on social, economical, educational, and political levels. The main topic of discussion being new alternatives and choices to eradicate poverty across developing and under-developed countries across the globe.
Later in the evening, the benefit directors aired a documentary by Michel Bulte entitle “Street Children” which featured commentary provided by Pierre Arditi, a popular French actor. The film focuses on young children who are victims of extreme poverty and also highlights several young people involved in alleviating the situation.
At the event, Air France Foundation gave their first award for work carried out in the field to those who made an impact on eradicating poverty at home and abroad. UNESCO co-hosted the event in a partnership between the two organizations.
Chairman of the Air France Foundation, Francois Brousse, stated that the Air France Foundation was began to help children living in difficult situations. He added that the company was committed to its goals to fight poverty and scourge among destitute minors and that he believes the company’s goals to eradicate childhood destitution are fundamental and are inherent in the foundation’s actions which have been carried out, together with UNESCO, across the globe for the past 17 years.
