Aer Lingus passes half million booking mark at Belfast
Posted on: September 10th, 2008 by Emily WelchAer Lingus has reached a milestone in service at the Belfast International Airport in having just marked its 500,000th booking at that facility.
The half million figure was reached just one year after the carrier began its operations at the Belfast Airport. The launch of service from Belfast was the first time the Irish flagship carrier invested in an operational base outside the Irish Republic.
The director of corporate affairs for Aer Lingus, Enda Corneille, commented: “We’re delighted to have reached the half a million mark and growth continues to be in line with our expectations.
He added: “The support from the travelling public in Northern Ireland has been fantastic, and with a growing selection of routes on offer to popular sunshine and city break destinations, we hope to build on this success in the months ahead.”
Over the last year, Aer Lingus increased the number of scheduled services it offered from the Belfast International Airport, including flights to Lanzarote, Milan and Munich beginning with the winter 2008-09 season.
Services to Lanzarote will commence on 27 September, and flights to both Milan and Munich will begin on 28 October.
Corneille noted that Aer Lingus offers destinations “to suit every traveller’s taste,” from European capitals such as Paris and Rome, to popular seaside vacation spots such as Malaga.
