After six months of closure for extensive refurbishment, the short term parking at Gatwick Airport’s North Terminal just reopened, a week ahead of schedule. If you think that it shouldn’t take that much time or money to improve some cement parking stalls, then you need to drive out to Gatwick, just to check out the new features.

Serving both the Arrivals and the Departures area of the North Terminal, the new short-term parking features digital displays indicating available parking spaces, clear makings, upgraded road surfaces and an energy saving lighting system. The refurbishment cost a total of £5.5 million, but now puts the North Terminal Parking facilities on par with the short-term parking at the South Terminal. With the reopening of the car park, things have returned to normal and all car hire services are once again located in their usual positions in both terminals.

Short term parking at Gatwick is advisable only for stays of five hours of less.  Four hours of short-stay parking, for example, costs £7.20, whereas the daily rate for long-stay parking is £7.90.
