73-day Holland America cruise to embark in 2008

The Holland America Cruise line is set to offer a remarkable voyage that will be the only 2008 cruise to completely circumnavigate the entire African Continent. The journey will take 73 days and passengers will be cruising in style aboard the 793 person capacity MS Princendam.

 

Executive vice president of marketing, sales and guest programs for Holland America Richard D. Meadows says, “The 2008 Grand Africa Voyage is unrivaled for its striking destinations and active adventure opportunities.”

 

And opportunities abound, with an incredible list of stops, including three days in cape Town, South Africa and Mombasa, Kenya. The ship will also stop in a stunning array of cities, departing late at night to allow passengers to get off the boat and experience the local nightlife. These cities include Alexandria, Durban, Funchal, Madeira, Malaga, Safaga and Victoria.

 

The voyage leaves from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA on March 11^th, 2008, making a stop in San Juan Puerto Rico before carrying on to the African coast. The entire trip will cover 28 ports, 18 countries and over 20,000 nautical miles.

   Wooooaaaahhhh…no prices advertised, so lets assume it is aimed at the priveleged amongst us..sounds fabulous.

   Sound like a delightful cruise, honeymmoning couples would have a great time. In fact I would expect a cruise like that to be populated mainly by honeymooners, retired couples and families wanting to see some of the unseen world in a once in a lifetime oppourtunity…

   I wish!

   Thats a long time to be out at sea but that ship has some of the world’s best facilities on board, including one of the finest casinos ever operated on a cruise ship. I would stay aboard for a couple of the stop off points mind you!

   Three days in Cape Town is not enough! However nice that cruise liner is I would expect a week in such a great place where the nightlife means night time and not 2am closing!
   I was quoted over 11,000USD for a similar cruise a year ago and that included all meals and a seaview room, so I am wondering what kind of costs this cruise would be.

   Wish I was one of the lucky souls on board the MS Princendam. Nobody can ever forget a cruise like this. I’m very sure, if I could join, there would not be a single day that I should get bored! Anyway, I can only dream about a voyage like this.
