7 tourists dead in Egypt
Posted on: May 1st, 2008 by Dave BessA bus crash in Egypt has killed at least 7 tourists and injuring an additional 16 according to an Egyptian emergency official. The bus was carrying 40 mostly British, Italian and Canadian tourists to the Egyptian capital of Cairo from Shram el-Sheik when the bus overturned on a sharp corner on a highway near Abu Zenima, catching fire and burning much of the bus.
Of the 16 people injured, most suffer from serious burns, and have all been rushed to nearby hospitals to receive treatment for their injuries. The specific nationalities of the dead have not yet been released, but Dr. Said Issa told the press that the death toll could possibly increase. The cause of the accident has not been officially established, but with the rate of accidents in Egypt caused by excessive speed and carelessness being what it is, an overturned bus on a sharp curve doesn’t leave much to the inquiring mind.
