2008 travel threats outlined
Posted on: February 21st, 2008 by Dave BessTravel Threats is a branch of the United States Department of State that releases an annual report of what the main threats to travellers are for that year. The 2008 report has been released, and a visit to www.travelthreats.com will make international American travellers aware of the latest weather threats, health issues, safety concerns, criminal activity, infrastructure issues and terrorist threats.
Consistent international travel concerns that remain high on the list in 2008 are the presence of avian bird flu, food borne illness and lacking or inadequate medical facilities. The site reports that terrorism in Europe may be on the increase, with North Africa remains a risky place for American citizens.
Executive vice president of Travel Threats Tara Boyd states, “The threats noted above reinforce our goal to assist the traveling public to be better prepared for, and to respond to, security challenges faced while traveling abroad. To demonstrate support for the traveling public, especially students during upcoming Spring Break, Travel Threats recently launched a free information portal on its website. Individuals can pose travel risk related questions directly to regional analysts with complimentary responses provided through the end of Spring Break travel.
Comprehensive Country Threat Assessments remain available to support businesses, academic institutions, religious organizations and tourists, 2008 is expected to be a busy year once again for our analysts.”
