2008 Spring Break to cost 10% more than 2007
Posted on: January 23rd, 2008 by Dave BessSpring Break is the time where many Americans take a week’s holiday and jet off to a sunny location either within the United States, the Caribbean or to a lesser extent, Europe or farther. With such high volume of travel, flights and such can be a bit more expensive around this time, even if flights are booked well in advance.
Farecast.com has put together a report forecasting the costs for the average spring break trip for 2008, and they’ve declared that to take the vacation this year will cost on average 10 to 12% more than it did last year.
‘Fareologist’ with farecast.com John Rauser says, “Consumers will pay on average 10-12 percent more for spring break this year for travel. We are seeing the impact of numerous factors impacting pricing including rising oil prices and fuel surcharges, rumors of consolidation and reduced capacity, emphasizing that consumers need to be smart when knowing when to fly and buy this season.”
