12 deported from Pakistan
Posted on: March 19th, 2008 by Dave SmithThis weekend at least 12 people of foreign origin were deported from Pakistan in the city of Peshwar. The deportees were mostly of Arab origin, with a former Algerian fighter among them. Among others deported were the man’s wife, his four children and other women who were identified as the wives of other detained Arabs.
Jawed Ibrahim, the chairman of world prisoners relief commission reported that 12 persons got on a Qatar Airways plane at Peshwar International Airport, bound for Doha where they would continue on to their respective countries of origin.
Details as to why these people were deported or even detained in the first place is patchy, but what is known is that the Algerian had been in prison for almost a year before being brought before a judge for the crime of carrying a false identity card.
No one could find help to keep them from being deported to their home countries, which comprised mostly of Egypt, Morocco and Algeria.
