An Scottish man spent more than 100 hours trapped inside a men’s toilet without access to food and with no mobile phone to help him call for assistance.

David Leggat, a retired school teacher, was locked for almost four days in a lawn bowling club near Aberdeen in Scotland. After entering the bathroom, the door jammed and the outside handle fell off the door.

In order to stay warm during the freezing temperatures he endured, especially at night, the 55-year-old dipped his feet in hot water. Nevertheless he was able to sleep only a few hours each night, according to reports published by the Evening Express newspaper.

The man stayed undetected in the bathroom for so long because the club is not often used in the winter season. However, he was eventually rescued by one of the club’s cleaners who returned to the club for her equiptment.

According to Leggat, a course he had once taken in survival techniques helped him get through the difficult time.

According to the cleaner, Leggat looked grey and shaken when he came out of the bathroom.

“At least there was a toilet to use,” Leggat said. “The only thing I regret is not getting trapped behind the bar.”
