The Wardown Park Museum is one of the museums in Bedford located among the picturesque settings of this area. Just 34 minutes away from the Bedford Museum itself, the museum can be found in a scenic park that adds to the allure of the fascinating collection housed inside. Depicting Luton’s story as well as that of its people, the museum displays ancient photographs and artifacts that tell the tales of the car industry and hat production industry of the area.
In the ground floor galleries, the Living Landscape gallery can be found among the archaeological and natural history displays of the area. These displays include the Bronze Age mirror and the hoard of Shillington Roman coins. The Lace gallery, also locate on the ground floor of the museum, features an extensive lace collection from the local area.
The first floor galleries of the museum, dubbed in February 2003 as the Luton Life displays, tell the stories of the people in Luton for more than 150 years. Here, touch screen computers containing images of Luton in the past as well as hands-on exhibits are featured.
Disabled access in the museum is available through the lift from the first floor. It also has a tearoom, free parking and a shop.
