One of the most famous people of Bedford is John Bunyan who was not only a pastor and a preacher but also an author in his own right. As such, a museum has been erected in the honor of this man, whose most acclaimed work, “The Pilgrim’s Progress”, is depicted in scenes displayed in a modern way within. Other artifacts pertaining to Bunyan’s life can also be perused in the museum.

The doors of the museum were first opened to the public in the year of 1998. Upon entering it, the visitors will be welcomed by a three-dimensional model of Bunyan in the later years of his life. The preacher will invite visitors to join him in his journey of looking back into his life. The boundaries of the room housing the museum’s collections are comprised of a series of room sets, tableaux and reconstructions that are inculcated with points of information meant to give insights into the life of Bunyan.

Aside from the museum itself, additional information can also be acquired at the research library in the building. The facilities here include a car and coach parking areas, some public toilets, a kiosk and a picnic area. Closed during Mondays, the museum also welcomes visits from school groups as it has teachers’ kits that are based on the curriculum of the educational program of the country.
