Transportation To And From London Stansted Airport

Despite the hour or more trip from Stanstead Airport by train to London, (longer by car!) the rail service is convenient and much less busy than Heathrow or Gatwick Airports. There are so many budget European flights making Stanstead a great option for residents of North London or the Midlands. Thanks to the arrivals and departures being on separate levels, the access to parking, trains, and taxis is extremely convenient.

The airport is by junction 8A of the M11 Motorway and 20 minutes or less from Junction 27 of the M25. The A505 and a414 provide access to Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire, and East Anglia is accessible through the A11, A12, and A20. Use the A1 and A14 if going to the North and Midlands.

The Airport is a 41-minute rail ride from London Liverpool Street Station. It leaves every 15 minutes from 08:00 to 17:00 during the week and early in the morning, weekday evenings and weekends it leaves every 30 minutes. The first service from London Stansted starts at 06:00 every day, making its last departure at 23:59. The local trains take a bit longer but also stop at local stations in Hertfordshire. Sunday rides are often disrupted by rail works.

The Airbus A6 takes more than an hour and leaves every 20 minutes Monday through Sunday, 24 hours a day. It makes stops at frequent points in North London. Local towns and towns further north are serviced by Jetlink.

Taxi service is also available but tends to be very pricey to take all the way into London.

Pricing starts at £1.6 per 30 minutes for short stay parking and different rates are also available for longer stays. The short stay car park features a dedicated pick up area in Zone D. There is a free access period of ten minutes.
