Getting To Poitiers
The town of Poitiers is situated midway between Bordeaux and Paris in Poitou-
Charentes province of France. The town is well connected to international and
national cities and has a modern international airport. The airport can be easily accessed by rail and road network. The main A10 motorway (Paris to Bordeaux) runs through the western outer edge of the town. Poitiers also lies on the primary Paris-Bordeaux railway line and several trains run on a daily basis.
The Poitiers airport is situated just a few kilometers from the western side of the town, and regular flights come from Paris and other important French cities. Daily flights are also offered by Ryanair from London’s Stansted. The airport has no routine bus service for the town, but you can take a taxi, which is easily available.
Travelers coming from Paris should follow the A10 motorway south and
through the Orleans and Tours cities, on to Poitiers. Persons coming form Bordeaux should take the A10 motorway to Poitiers. The 340 kilometers from Paris to Poitiers could be covered in just 3 hours and Bordeaux, which is located at a distance of 250 kilometers, should take no more than two hours to reach.
Excellent rail service is obtainable from Paris and La Rochelle. About 18 fast
TGV trains run regularly from Bordeaux, and take a time of 1 hour and 45 minutes. Eleven fast TGV trains also run from La Rochelle, and it will not take more than two hours.
