Type: Carriage Tour
To move around in the city of Stockholm by horse or carriage is a little bit unusual, except when we talk about tourism in the Old Town where carriage rides are popular.
The “Old Time Sightseeing Tour” lasts for about forty-five minutes and believe it or not there is a lot to see during this time. This well preserved part of Stockholm (known as Old Town) is where all of the history of the town started since the beginning of time, it has as an attraction not only its history that retraces back to the 10th century but also the guided tour via carriage (which is a replica of the historic ones, being this considered by many as piece of art and not a means of transportation), pulled by two horses and its coachman dressed traditional according to ancient times. There he goes as a guide as they are trotting along at the echoing sound of the wheels, at the same time as he transmits to the visitors the ancient stories from the 13th century until today and describes as many details as possible.
Speaking of horses it is curious that equestrian sport is the second most popular after the football. There are approximately over a thousand equestrian clubs distributed for the nineteen districts in Sweden, looking more like an industry than a sport that comes in ranking millions.
The horse is by nature a very important environmental resource for this country.
Sweden has a high numbers in the European population, for horses per head.
