Weather in Turkey

A mammoth landmass like Turkey lends itself to significant weather fluctuations from east to west. Though Istanbul touts summers of an average 30°C, winters dive to single digits and are sometimes rainy.

Likened to Greece and southern Italy, the Mediterranean coastline is known to offer hot, sun-filled summers and wet but temperate winters. The spring of April through June and autumn of September to November are optimal, as coastal commerce hibernates from October to April.

Moderate in summer, brisk in winter and rainy in both are the ways of the Black Sea coast. In winter the eastern mountains are snow-covered and frigid but placid in summer and predominantly accessible from June to September. The southeast provides dry, mild winters and extreme summer heat occasionally in the 40s Celsius, while the Anatolian plateau offers cool summers and very cold winters.
