Weather in France
France is a large country with many regions and all of these have different climatic conditions. It is a country ideal for those who enjoy winter sporting activities and for all the visitors who at different times prefer the warmth and sunshine.
The southern areas of course have the warmest weather, especially along the coastal Mediterranean. The summer months are usually warm and there is no rain, however if you are holidaying during the spring or autumn it is likely you will encounter some sudden, quite heavy showers. The influence of weather coming off the Atlantic is to be felt in the north west of the country. There can be a lot of rain, strong winds from the west, and high humidity.
Cold winters and hot summer weather are typical conditions found in the north eastern areas of the country. The summers in Paris are dry and very warm but the winter months are cold with extremely low temperatures. Paris also has the lowest average rainfall in France.
During the winter months skiing is popular in the Alps and snow can be found on the mountain tops all through the year. In early summer the skiers leave and the area becomes a haven for climbers and hikers.
It is often said that the spring weather in France is the best. Daylight hours are long throughout the summer and the month of August is usually the busiest of the summer season.
