Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) is the largest air carrier with a hub at Stockholm’s Arlanda Airport. As such, passengers looking to fly to Stockholm from long-haul destinations in North America, Asia, the Middle East, as well as from many European cities, will likely find that SAS is one of the most prominent travel options available. Established in 1946, this is a full-service flagship carrier and as such, prices tend to be higher than on discount airlines, but full on-board service is included in the ticket price.

Scandinavian Airlines’ long-haul routes between Stockholm and cities in North America include regularly scheduled non-stop flights from Newark and Chicago-O’Hare to the Swedish capital. SAS also connects Stockholm to Beijing, Bangkok, Istanbul and Moscow. Since SAS is part of the Star Alliance, you may be able to use partner airlines to fly to cities from where SAS operates direct routes to Stockholm. In most cases, you can book these connecting flights through the SAS website.

In terms of fares, summer prices from Newark to Stockholm cost approximately 910 SEK each way in economy class, excluding taxes. Economy class flights from Chicago-O’Hare to Stockholm start at approximately 946 SEK each way during the summer months. It is important to note that the initial fare quoted on the SAS website will not include taxes. Additionally, it is often possible to find cheaper fares to Stockholm if you are willing to transfer planes in Copenhagen.
