The most comfortable and affordable way to travel from Stockholm’s Arlanda Airport to the city centre is to take the Arlanda Express train service directly from the airport. The total duration of the ride is approximately 20 minutes and you can get on the train at either Terminals 2 and 3, or Terminal 5. The Arlanda Express runs at intervals of 15 minutes. The train’s final destination is the Stockholm Central Station, when departing from the airport. The Arlanda Express travels at a maximum speed of 200km per hour, making for a rapid commute between the downtown and the airport. The company that operates the express service also offers a guarantee, that if at any time a train is more than two minutes late, passengers may claim a free ticket.

Unless you are willing to pay at least 450 SEK ($55), it is not advisable that you take a taxi from Arlanda, due to its relatively far distance from Stockholm’s city centre. Taking the Arlanda Express train will cost you less than half of this price. All trains are air-conditioned and the cars have modern, blue-colored interiors.

The Arlanda Express also offers occasional specials. For example, during the summer months, two passengers can travel for a reduced rate of 240 SEK. Additionally, children under 17 years of age may travel free of charge, so long as they are accompanied by a parent or a guardian.
