Stockholm’s Bromma Airport is much smaller and serves far fewer passengers than its larger rival, Arlanda. Nevertheless, if you are traveling with a handful of European and domestic Swedish airlines, you may find yourself at the capital’s secondary airport. Established in 1936, Bromma saw a sharp decline is traffic following the 1960 transformation of Arlanda into a commercial airport. Nevertheless, Bromma was given a new lease on life with the founding of a Swedish air carrier called Malmö Aviation, which offers regularly scheduled domestic routes to Gothenburg-Landvetter, Umeå and Malmö.

There is also at least one regularly scheduled international flight that uses the Bromma Airport, namely the Brussels Airlines-operated route to the Belgian capital. For the most part, however, domestic and short-haul regional passengers are far more likely to use the Bromma Airport. Regional airlines, such as City Airline and Sun Air of Scandinavia also fly from this airport. Bromma, however, does not serve any long-haul routes.

Bromma’s one key advantage, when compared with Arlanda, is that it is located a mere 8km from Stockholm’s city centre, making for inexpensive taxi rides from the airport. In terms of on-site facilities, the airport has two small shops and one restaurant called Forno Romano, as well as a V.I.P. lounge called the “Yellow Room.” This lounge, however, is reserved for Malmö Aviation’s frequent flyers, as well as Brussels Airlines platinum and gold card holders. Without these cards, you may still use the lounge if you are willing to pay a 100 SEK tariff, payable by Eurocard.
