Stockholm’s coach terminal is where you will arrive if you decide to take an intercity bus to the Swedish capital. The terminal is located in the close vicinity of the train station, making for a convenient transfer, if necessary, to the rail system. The terminal is used by a number of coach companies, including Interbus, Svenska Buss, Swebus Express and Flygbussarna.
In the case of Interbus, it is possible to make a booking online, by completing an electronic form. You cannot, however, make a payment online. Therefore, you must be sure to leave an accurate contact number or e-mail address, where the company can reach you in order to confirm your booking. With Swebus, however, it is possible to both book and purchase your tickets online. You may also buy a ticket by telephoning the company. In terms of prices, taking a bus is much cheaper than flying or traveling by train. For example, Swebus has one-way tickets from Gothenburg to Stockholm starting at 148 SEK. Moreover, if you are willing to cede the right to cancel your ticket, the fare may be as low as 49 SEK. The company also offers discounts and reductions to pensioners and students, as well as youth in general. Another advantage of taking a bus is that many smaller towns are not served by trains, or planes and if you do not rent a car, traveling coach is sometimes the only available option.
