The city of Lyons in east central France may be a place that you would want to look into renting a car hire to help get you around the city. Lyons is the third largest city in France and is a major centre for business. According to the 1999 counting, the city has approximately 1,648,216 residents and is located between the cities of Paris and Marseille.

This city is a great place to get away and see some sites. A beautiful site to see in Lyons is a large basilica called the Notre-Dame de Fourvière. Another fine building found in the city is the Cathédrale Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Lyon that is over looked by the Notre-Dame de Fourvière.

Either structures are beautiful sites to see and you should definitely take a look at them. If you’re more into sports the local stadium is called Stade de Gerland where the local football club, the Olympique Lyonnaise practice and have there games. Wherever you decide to go in this beautiful city will definitely satisfy you and be worth your while.

The Notre-Dame de Fourvière was constructed between 1872 and 1896.The gorgeous building is perched on top of the Fourviere hill and can be seen from many different parts of the city. Some features of the Basilica include beautiful stained glass, fine mosaics and a vault of Saint-Joseph.

The Notre-Dame de Fourvière is a beautiful sight from any angle and even if you’re not up close to it you will most likely be able to see it from somewhere in the city. The Cathédrale Saint-Jean is another superb example of great architecture. The cathedral was started to be built in the 12th century and completed in 1476. The Cathédrale Saint-Jean was the capital church in Lyon until the Notre-Dame de Fourvière was built behind it atop of the Fourviere hill.

Either of these buildings would be a fine site to see during your stay in Lyons. If you’d enjoy sports more then checking out some of the historical attractions in the city there is always the Stade de Gerland.

The outdoor stadium is the main sporting focus in Lyons. The stadium has a seating capability of over 50,000 people and would be a great way to spend your day and watch a football game.
