Started In 1992, The Victorian Christmas Fair

Every Month of December

Every year before Christmas Day arrives, Bedford holds the Victorian Christmas Fair. This is the time when everyone will be treated to the genuine smells, sights and sounds of the Christmases during the Victorian period.

The Victorian Christmas Fair is a perfect opportunity for everyone to make their gift purchases for Christmas. Usually held in the second week of December, this three day fair can be found at the Bedford Town Centre. Here you will be able to find some great food like the Christmas favorite of mince pies complemented with mulled wine or a slice of cheese from the stall of the traditional cheese monger. Stalls selling all kinds of merchandise as well as crafts and other Christmas goodies can also be found at the site of the Victorian fair.

Great entertainment is also in store for the people who will go to the fair. Last year, the improved adventures of Robin Hood were presented by Rex Boyd and the Red Hot Santa while the Strangelings provided their own brand of entertainment as well. For the children, there is the helter-skelter, swing boats, steam engine and carousel rides as well as a synthetic ice-rink.

Started in 1992, the Victorian Christmas Fair last year was kicked off by the performance from the Ensemble of London. Aside from traditional Christmas songs, the ensemble also performed some popular classics. So, if you are intrigued with what the Victorian Christmas Fair is about, then make sure to visit Bedford during Christmas to find out.
