The London Luton Airport is the closest airport there is to Bedford and is just some 41 minutes away. One of the fastest growing airports in UK, the Luton Airport serviced more than 9.4 million passengers in 2006, which represent almost a 400 percent increase compared to ten years ago. Although managed, operated and developed by a private company, the airport is owned by the Luton Borough Council.
