The Learjet: Must-Have Accessory of the World’s Rich
Posted on: September 4th, 2008 by Gareth RobinsonHow many episodes of “Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous” have you seen that did not feature Robin Leach gesturing at or poking his head around a Learjet?

The toy to have if you’re rich and famous
Owning a Learjet and showing it off is a must for people who have their property showcased alongside the likes of other non-celebrities, and have enough money to fill their Olympic-sized swimming pools with cash, burn it, and then fill it again.
If that last line describes you, or what you aspire to be, then a Learjet is for you. Consider, for example, the Learjet55, which holds seven passengers along with two crew members, can travel up to 884 kilometres an hour but cruises at 744 km/h, can tally up 9,750 kilograms, and boasts a range of 4,156 km.
The LJ60, on the other hand, boasts that it can hold between 8 to 10 passengers along with the two crew members, has a top speed of 859 km/h and cruises at 486 km/h, holds up to 10.660 kg, and will travel 4,628 km. If you can’t decide, maybe you could build a hangar.

Now, where did I leave that LearJet?
Clearly, you want to keep your LJ55 for the shorter, lighter, more intimate, and faster parties. But really, you should have at least one Learjet. It’s a must-have accessory for the world’s rich. You may be asking why I call it that. It sounds like a contradiction, you say. If it’s an accessory, than it is not a necessity nor required. Something can not be both unnecessary and yet necessary, can it?
Well, technically, in order to live, no one is in utter need of a Learjet. In that sense, it’s not a necessity. In order to be considered rich, you must have vast amounts of reusable resources. So in that sense, it’s still not a necessity. Therefore, the term seems contradictory. But let me paint some pictures for you.
You know the old adage, “It takes money to make money”? This is true. And when one is trying to live as a multi-millionaire, there are times when it is necessary to buy something that may seem unnecessary, but cannot be compromised. A Learjet is a small jet-engine aeroplane that is perfect for people in forward-motion. It is private, it is roomy, it gives you freedom to go where you must, and it looks good in your “wealth portfolio.”
Can you imagine the Queen of England, the President of the United States, the Prime Minister of Canada, or a Saudi prince riding coach or even first class on a 747? It may be funny to imagine if you can simply because it does not suit their images at all. True, the U.S. President’s Air Force One is a 747 jet in body, but it is a private jet all the same, just one outfitted with special security and everything that Harrison Ford would need to do in order to defeat the baddies in one-on-one hand-combat. But there is no way a past or present head-of-state is going to be seen riding around in a commercial jet. How would they ever have time to themselves?

Air Force One - the ultimate Private Jet
The world’s wealthy are not better than everyone else, but their time is precious. They run businesses and need to stay focused on the tasks at hand. There is a need to get from Point A to Point B with as few distractions as possible. Most executives work monstrous hours and would pay handsomely to keep distractions from denying them – even temporarily – from their most important goals - whether these goals be producing more wealth, helping others, or spending as much time with their families as possible. Add to that all of the networking and connections they must constantly bridge and the constant hammer of and insistent need for steady business and social visits. We see that it is a good thing to be able to go from one place to another without having to deal with many other people for a change.

Getting away from the desk; a LearJet allows you to.
Now, imagine sitting between two of Jay-Z’s bodyguards in already-cramped quarters. Can you picture football sensation Ronaldhino being escorted by attendants and security off the plane for stretching in the aisles? A Learjet offers room for you to move as you need to move. Consider the fact that we live in an age of constant vigilance against potential terror attacks, and that no one is more guarded than the airline industry. In order to curb against such threats, the airlines tend to try to regulate the movement of passengers.

A Learjet would help even the biggest family
There may not be any formal rules about how many steps a passenger can take in-flight, but if you’ve ever seen a crew member or fellow passengers get anxious when someone checks their shoes or keeps going into their overhead compartment, then you understand that everyone is monitored while flying commercial planes. It is not exactly creepy, but it may be more paranoia and regulations than you are willing to put up with. A Learjet experience doesn’t constrict you. You are now free to walk up and down the cabin.
A Learjet says that you have personality. In her hit song, “You’re So Vain (I Bet You Think this Song Is About You)”, Carly Simon sang about an ex-lover who rode his Learjet to Nova Scotia. You don’t need to be vain, but having a Learjet says that you are somebody and that you know that you are somebody. After all, what kind of an important person does not recognize his or her own importance? As you draw attention to yourself in a tasteful manner, others will give you attention. If you can legitimize all of this attention, that can prove extremely beneficial to your business. It will generate business for your business.

Would you use the LearJet to nip to the shops or go a little further?
Just as there is only a certain type of person who can own a Learjet, there is also only a type of plane that allows you the freedom to travel in a way that supports your business and lifestyle needs. You may be that person, and the Learjet is that plane.
